The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
